Heavy Equipment Tecnician I

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, operates various equipment including graders, tractors, backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks and trash trucks. May also include forklifts and front skid steer loaders.

  • Operates graders for leveling and operates tractors to load materials such as dirt and rocks.

  • Operates backhoe and front end loaders as required.

  • Operates various equipment for general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal and related assignments.

  • Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water and tires.

  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required.

  • Two years of heavy equipment operations experience required, to include inspection and maintenance.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.

  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.

  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. Business work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 100 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
